Los Altos, CA to Santa Rosa, CA

May 23, 2011
Monday

On the road again heading for Santa Rosa, California at 9:25 am. Should take us about 2+ hours. We picked up I-280 for San Francisco where we will switch to CA 101 for Santa Rosa.  The landscape is the same we have been traveling through since we arrived here – golden hills, freeways, hillsides filled with houses, and a barn or two. Early in the trip we passed signs to places I was familiar with in the late 1980s and 1990s when my 2 sons lived the Bay Area: Palo Alto, Page Mill Rd., Half Moon Bay, and Woodside. I wonder what happened to Pete’s Wicked Ale? I haven’t it around lately. In Woodside we crossed the San Andreas Fault which was quiet today.

We didn’t see much of San Francisco as we flew by. The Golden Gate Bridge is always a treat.  One year my son Peter and I walked across it and back.

We stopped at the Vista at the far end of the bridge to enjoy the view and take pictures then back on road.

We passed by Sonoma and Petaluma and reached Santa Rosa on schedule.

The next leg of the journey is a long one to Jacksonville, Oregon.

Hey, Jason, my very good friend.  I’m sorry we couldn’t stop in San Fransisco to visit as we flew by. I waved anyway. Hope all is well with you.

On the road again heading north near Palo Alto
