We journeyed to Moran, Wyoming located in Grand Tetons National Park just south of Yellowstone to meet our Madison friends Greg and Susy and their friends the Van Hovens.
We met them at Jackson Lake Lodge and made plans to meet for a hike to a waterfall near Jenny Lake at 1 PM.
We drove south from the Lodge to visit the Laurence Rockefeller Preserve. The interpretive center there is remarkable. The exhibits consist of photos and videos that celebrate the beauty of the area and the Grand Tetons. It was truly a unique and inspiring experience.
The Tetons are amazing! They spring straight up from the ground level with no gradual sloping ascent. They are suddenly there – stark, majestic, awe inspiring and beautiful beyond words. They speak so eloquently for themselves there is no need to describe them.
We met Greg and Susy and friends at Jenny Lake , boarded a boat for a trip across the lake to the landing for the trail to the waterfall. The trail wound upward beside a stream with rapids and waterfalls. The trail was paved with slushy snow making for slippery walking. I was glad I had my hiking stick.
When we reached THE waterfall tumbling a 100 feet down a cliff face. we all agreed the slog was worth it!
After the hike, we went our separate ways and headed back to our campground with a stop at Old Faithful for gas and to make a reservation at the Lodge for dinner at 5:30 on Tuesday.
